The Hitting Coach
"Put the Bat on the Ball"
With the Hitting Coach, this is a no brainer. Catch the ball and batter is making contact with the ball. Call it whatever you want (i.e. eye-hand coordination, timing, quick hands, extension, etc.) The hands must be trained to put the club head (sweet spot) on the ball.
Catch the ball = Contact
Practice is the Mother of skill. The "Hitting Coach allows a batter to practice hitting, not chasing balls.
The "Hitting Coach allows batter to - Simulate the Hitting Action. Pitches are coming from the same direction as in a regular game. Pitcher can change speed and pitch to different areas of the strike zone. (Duplicating game situations.)
Batters can practice hitting when he/she is in front of the count, behind in the count and in two strike situations. The physical part of the swing is obivous. But, the mental part is also important.
Any hitting situation that may come up in a game can be practiced. A good hitter should never find himself/ herself in a situation that has not been practiced over and over.
Great hitters must constantly work to hone their swing skills. The bat is like an instrument to a musician.
Sizes:
Youth Model: For any hitter that uses a bat 31 inches and shorter (Rule of thumb-Pre High School).
Adult Model: For any hitter that uses a bat 31 inches and longer (Rule of thumb-High School and above).
IMPORTANT - Type of Balls to Use
The Hitting Coach can not be used with regular or heavy balls. There are a variety of balls that can be used (wiffle, plastic or tennis balls).
